After writing over 40 books and thousands of blog posts about content marketing & writing, I’m often asked, Where did you learn to write?
I’d like to answer, Harvard University!
The truth, however, is a bit less exciting. I honed my content marketing and writing skills by preparing weekly retail newspaper ads, newspaper inserts, and radio ads.
The best way to become a proficient content marketer and writer is to put yourself in a position where you have to write every day…one where you’ll get fired and your family will go hungry if you don’t perform!
I’ve always loved words, and I’ve always loved writing, but the cauldron of daily deadlines in a retail advertising environment forced me to learn new habits and become more efficient.
