I’d like to add an important productivity tip to my recent round-up of writing ideas, 7 Tips for Increasing Your Writing Productivity.

The missing idea is, basically, very simple; illustrated by the mind map example to the left:

8. Make your ideas as visual as possible

Visual thinking is for you, whether you’re planning your your next book, choosing content marketing topics for your author platform, or simply planning your next blog post.

The benefits of visual thinking

Visual thinking makes it easier for you to see the structure of your content, the “big picture” as well as the relationships between the ideas contributing to your writing success.

Making your ideas as visual as possible also helps you identify what’s missing from your projects, so you can go back and add depth to your brand-building messages.

To learn more about making your ideas visual, see 7 Ways to Add Visual Interest to Blog Posts and Books. For an example of how mind maps can be personalized to fit their contents, see another one of my recent Personal Branding Blog posts, 7 Tips for Successfully Raising Capital on Shark Tank.

Productivity and personal branding success

Efficiency and productivity play a major role in your personal branding success. The more efficient and productive you are, the easier it will be for you to plan and finish your writing projects. The sooner they get published, the sooner they go to work, building your personal brand. The 7 Tips for Boosting Your Writing Productivity, plus the 8th tip described above, will reward you with more time to enjoy the benefits of a respected, high-visibility personal brand.
