Monday’s planning tip of the week
Visual thinking tools like Prezi, an online tool, helps authors easily and economically plan books and present their book ideas to others. In minutes, it’s possible to create a visual roadmap for identifying markets, topics, and benefits for new books. For example, select the Prezi book planning graphic, below, and click (and re-click) the arrow:
Each time you click the arrow, new information is revealed in an appropriate sequence.
Benefits of visual thinking for planning and presenting your book
Using visual thinking to simplify the structure of a book provides a different perspective, making it easier for authors to identify the “big ideas” of their book. This, in turn, makes it easier to develop a logical table of contents.
When you work with visual thinking tools, like Prezi, progress builds on progress. Your book takes shape faster as you add new ideas and organize them in the right order.
Presenting your ideas to others
In addition to helping you plan your book, visual thinking helps you quickly get to the point where you can post your ideas online, so you can share your ideas with clients, literary agents, acquisitions editors, and your expert network.
In less than an hour, answering the questions in bullet list format, you can create a tangible representation of your book idea and place it online for either public or selective, i.e., password-protected, comments.
Visual thinking and writing
Never before has technology offered so many tools to help authors organize their ideas and make them available for comment. Visual thinking tools make it easy to both plan your book and make your ideas available for comment as quickly and inexpensively as possible. What do you think? Do you think visual thinking tools, like Prezi, will help you plan and present your book? How?, or, Why not? Share your concerns and opinions as comments, and attend my upcoming interview with Prezi for Dummies author Stephanie Diamond!

Hi Roger,
This visual thinking plan makes a lot of sense.
I can see where this would speed up and make easier the whole process of planning and writing a book.
From what I’ve seen, the faster an author can write and publish their book (without sacrificing quality, of course), the faster the author will profit from, so it can make a difference in their lives.
Great tip!
