Here’s an excellent “real world” example of how you can test-market your book’s title before your book appears.
Simply visit this Survey Monkey link and indicate your choice of title and subtitle.
- How much did this cost the author to set up the survey? Nothing!
- What’s the value of the information generated? Priceless!
As in so many aspects of publishing success, it’s not what you spend, but the ideas to which you’re exposed and your willingness to take action that determines your success or failure.
Thanks to Peter Z., a Published & Profitable Tuesday Topic regular, for forwarding this wonderful example of test marketing to my attention after a recent call.

Thanks so much Roger, I also learned that after I sent out my initial survey to 15 people, I had a better grasp on titles. I then expanded the titles and used a 5 point rating system (available on Survey Monkey) sent to 50 people and now I am getting great results on the book title & subtitle. Glad to pass on any info that helps.

Dear Peter:
Thanks for sharing this information with us.
How about sending us the URL, or Tiny URL, of your latest survey so we can see what it looks like?
Best wishes for your continued success.
Roger
