Wednesday’s promoting tip for authors
Ilise Benum and Peleg Top, co-founders of Marketing Mentors, provide an excellent example of effective online list-building. It provides a great example of best practices at work.
As even a quick glance at their sign-up page, at left, shows, the page’s purpose and desired visitor action are immediately obvious.
The page is organized and presents a calming, yet engaging, image.
The copy begins by describing the benefits of signing up for their newsletter in a pleasant, conversational tone.
Call to action
Best of all, the call to action is very strong, and is appropriate for those ready to sign up as well as those who remain unconvinced.
- If you’re already convinced, just select the Subscribe option.
- If you’re not convinced, you can See a Sample Newsletter.
The closer
If you’re still not convinced, the section closes with mention of the free bonus report that you get when you sign-up for the newsletter. The language of the bonus is especially well done: 20 ways to get your prospects to call you back and how to deal with that painfully loud silence.
The close is short and sweet, written with an empathetic twinkle in the writer’s eye, creating a very pleasant visitor experience.
