MindManager 8 tips for editing and updating text in mind maps

MindManager 8 makes it easy to edit text mind maps by finding and replacing text that may to be  updated, or may have been improperly entered. This is something I recently had to do when I entered “Ch” instead of “Chapter” in a mind map of a book’s contents I was using as an example of using sections to organize book contents.

When its necessary to update a mind map in MindManager 8, click the Home icon in the ribbon toolbar and select either Find or Replace.  This reveals the Find & Replace Dialog Box, above. Enter the letters, word, or phrase, you want to change in the Find text box, and enter the correct spelling, or updated information, in the Replace box.

  • Select Find Next if you want to locate and verify each replacement as it takes place, followed by Replace and Find Next.
  • Select Replace All if you want to have MindManager to make each substitution throughout the mind map.

NOTE: Use the Replace All option with restraint, and always check your map afterward. . Notice, in the above example, that when MindManager found and replaced every instance of “Ch,” it also made the substitution when it encountered the “ch” letter pairs within words!
