When working on MindManager maps in online coaching sessions, I often note clients going through a 3-step process when a single keystroke shortcut would accomplish the same result in less time.
When inserting text that has been previously copied or cut, many users reach for the mouse and:
- Insert a new topic (often by selecting Insert, Topic)
- Select the default new topic text by dragging
- Select the Paste command to replace the selected text
A faster and easier alternative is to use MindManager’s CTRL+V keyboard shortcut. This simultaneously creates a new Main Topic (or Sub Topic) and pastes the copied (or cut) text!
By permitting you to keep your hands on the keyboard, the CTRL + V shortcut saves time and eliminates unnecessary wear and tear on your wrists.
It often takes a while to break old habits, like instinctively reaching for the mouse, and get used to keyboard shortcuts. But, the effort can pay off in future efficiency.
