Author tips for selling more books on Amazon.com by those who’ve done it

Wednesday’s book marketing tip for authors

Authors who want to sell more books on Amazon.com can take advantage of numerous resources that Amazon.com offers its authors. Here are three of the books that I recommend to my book coaching clients:

Brent Sampson’s Sell Your Book at Amazon: The Book Marketing Coach Reveals Secret Tips Guaranteed to Increase Sales for Self-Published and Print-on-Demand Authors was my introduction to the many resources that Amazon.com offers authors.

Amazon’s free resources to help authors sell more books include an author profile page, the ability to create a blog or–even better–add an RSS feed from an existing blog, as well as ways to increase the chances that Amazon visitors searching for competing books will stumble across your book.

Although tracking Amazon resources is like trying to paint a moving target, as Amazon keeps adding new capabilities, such as audio and video uploads, Aiming at Amazon is a great volume for authors just becoming aware of the resources that Amazon offers that can help them sell more books.

Another highly useful guide for authors is Aaron Shepard’s Aiming at Amazon: The NEW Business of Self-Publishing, Or How to Publish Books for Profit with Print-On-Demand by LIghtning Source and Book Marketing on Amazon.com.

Although the 2nd edition places more emphasis on Amazon.com’s print on demand options, I still like the level of detail covering topics like cover design and subtitles.

Steve Weber’s Plug Your Book! Online Book Marketing for Authors does the best overall job of describing how to sell more books by taking advantage of Amazon.com resources in the context of a comprehensive online book marketing strategy.

Steve offers a balanced look at the pros and cons of short-term promotions like Amazon.com “best-seller” campaigns, as well as long-term strategies for driving books to Amazon from blogs and author websites.

Either–or all–of these books can help authors take advantage of Amazon.com’s numerous free resources to sell more books.

Authors might want to check out newfiction.com .
They will produce and promote audio books for underrepresented authors.
