Online marketing ideas for authors, from the website of Janice Redish, upcoming teleseminar guest

Wednesday’s promoting tip for authors

Since I’ll be interviewing Janice (Ginny) Redish, the author of Letting Go of the Words: Writing Web Content that Works on next week’s Guerrilla Marketing Association call, I spent some time analyzing her website today. My goal was to identify ideas that I could share with Published & Profitable friends and members.

The first thing I liked was the amount of information that her home page displays in the opening screen. In just a few paragraphs, she clearly describes the services she offers and how she helps her clients. Reading her background statement reminded me how facts are always so much more powerful than adjectives. Clear and concise always wins over “creativity for creativity’s sake.”

After describing her qualifications, and her active speaking schedule, she proves it by listing some her upcoming events.

But, what clinched my enthusiasm for next week’s upcoming interview was her home page links to PowerPoint visuals from her recent User Friendly 2008 presentation in Asia. Posting the visuals, and mentioning the venue where they were originally displayed, provided concrete evidence that she is an active and well known usability expert.

In addition, the ability to view her visuals not only reinforced some of the points I had read in Legging Go of the Words, but provided additional proof of her expertise.

When you visit her site, notice her easy-to-locate contact information conveniently located at the upper right of the home page. I liked the way she used white space to separate the categories of contact information.
