I just discovered Michael Hyatt’s From Where I Sit blog, and find it both informative and opinionated. Michael Hyatt is the President and CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers. During the past week, there have been 3 recent posts which deserve every author’s attention: all deal either with author websites or author platforms.
- Saturday, Nov. 8, Michael Hyatt posted Four Surprising Conclusions about Author Websites. Included in his post was reference to an online resource, Websitegrader.com, a free online SEO tool that measures the marketing effectiveness of your blog or website.
- On Sunday, November 9th, Michael posted on, Why Every Author Needs a Powerful Online Presence. My main takeaway was that an effective online presence can speed the creation of book-quality-based word of mouth.
- Monday, November 10th’s post was titled, Seven Ways to Build Your Author Brand Online. The post lives up to the title, and offers concise, practical advice.
Not only are the posts concise and helpful, but the comments that accompany the posts are numerous and equally informative. This may be because Michael Hyatt ends each From Where I Sit blog posting with a question inviting comments. His blog’s archives extend back to 2005. I sampled posts from various months and observed an interesting evolution of the blog’s content, along with an increase in the number of comments. I subscribed.
