Thursday’s profit tip for authors

Here’s another time management tip for authors. Just like the way you can use an online calendar to find the time to write and promote your book, you can use an online calendar to find the time–as little as 30-minutes is enough!–to increase profits from your client coaching and consulting activities.

Simply use the repeating events feature of your online calendar to schedule time each Friday to review the ways you have helped your clients during the week. Use this time to review each of your client meetings or calls, and review the problems you helped them solve and the goals you helped them achieve. Make a list of the specific issues that you addressed with them, and the outcome of your discussion.

Taking the time to review each week from the perspective of client goals and tasks you addressed will help you evaluate whether or not you are effectively promoting your coaching and consulting services on your website. In many cases, authors find that they were not fully describing the range of problems they help clients solve or goals they help clients achieve.

When reviewing the your coaching and consulting activities:

  • First, identify the specific challenges and tasks you addressed during the preceding week with your clients.
  • Then, review how effectively your ability to assist clients address these issues is communicated on your website and in your promotional materials.

You may even want to create a table, or mind map, to track how frequently you address the various challenges and tasks. This can provide a new perspective into your value as a coach or consultant.
