Wednesday’s promoting tip for authors
During the past few weeks, I have been spending increasing amounts of time researching the elements that contribute to successful author websites. I’ve always been reviewing the various blogs on my blogroll to see what other authors have to say about author websites. One of the best was a blog by a Canadian writer that contained a provocative posting entitled 14 Things I Have Learned About Author Websites.
I agree with many of the concisely-written ideas, and wonder what others think. What do you think?

Hi Roger,
All were really good points although 4 and 5 appear to cancel each other out at first glance.
First in point 4 he says that “Frequency is important. It is like shopping for produce, people like to buy fresh.” Which I thought was a brilliant analogy.
Then in point 5 he confused me with “Frequency isn’t as important as you may think. If you are writing, it is fine to update posts once every two weeks, but broadcast that fact beforehand. Keep tour info or product info as up-to-date as possible.” Maybe he could have been more clear?
The point, I think, is you should keep your readers updated with your comings and goings. If you can’t post frequently, just say so and let them know why. You have to build a relationship and a rapport with your readers.
My 2 cents.
